Outdoor Garden
Let me introduce myself: I am the Outdoor Garden, embodying the Wood element, which represents the explosion of life and vitality on this site. I offer multiple opportunities to connect with others and nature, at the heart of the Château d’Oex village. Imagine my 6000 m², teeming with hundreds of trees, shrubs, plants, and flowers, arranged among dry stone walls and water basins; I surround, envelop, and protect this wonderful site! A true haven of life, well-being, and sharing depending on the area, my space serves as access to the buildings, village square, decorative and cultural garden, biodiversity spot, and offers some nice surprises like the Kneipp Path and the Organ Clock.
As soon as you arrive on site, you are instantly charmed by the lush greenery of the gardens surrounding the buildings—teeming with water features, a natural pond, and nearly 400 linear meters of dry stone walls that showcase and nourish hundreds of edible flowers, fruit trees, berry bushes, and medicinal plants. At the start of the path leading to Bovino, a leafy “village square” welcomes both residents and visitors. It’s a space designed for generations to connect, with benches placed near the children’s play area to encourage shared moments.
Scattered along the way, intimate resting spots invite relaxation and quiet conversation: cozy wicker cocoons, shaded pergolas, and tree-covered nooks. Here, children can explore small spaces designed for sensory learning and play—or simply rest. Nearby, in four small barns, friendly animals bring joy and excitement to young and old alike. And for the more curious souls, the Kneipp Path offers a sensory-rich experience, while the Organ Clock Garden will likely hold you in contemplative wonder.
The Organ Clock Garden is a truly marvelous and ingenious creation. It reveals that plants are not merely vegetation—they are companions in health and well-being. Inspired by holistic medical traditions, this innovative garden features a variety of medicinal plants, each corresponding to a specific human organ and its associated time of day. From the invigorating freshness of morning to the soothing calm of night, every plant shares its medicinal and culinary gifts, offering a new perspective on the bond between nature and health. Whether you are an avid gardener or simply curious about new paths to well-being, the Organ Clock Garden invites you to explore, to learn, and to reconnect with the wonders of the natural world.
